Willman Finishes Second At Fleet Feet Classic

On the heels of a sensational freshman debut last season, Emily Willman showed Tuesday that she’s getting even better.

Willman took second place in the 200-runner field at the Fleet Feet Kickoff Classic in Arnold.

Her time of 12:35.31 put her seven seconds behind Farmington’s Breanna Mathes.

Mathes won the short course race in 12:28.64.

Following Willman in the top 10 was Owensville’s Mekayla Gibson, Seckman’s Danielle Maxwell, Hillsboro’s Briana Langrehr, Farmington’s Alayna Sparr, Hillsboro’s Anna Crosby, St. Pius X’s Rita Eimer, Ft. Zumwalt South’s Madelyn Gray and Wright City’s Zoe Riggs.

Loren Halmick came in 76th with a time of 15:06.38. Michelle Gossett took 84th in 15:20.43. 

Tracy Cotter finished in 16:25.21. Adia Halmick had a time of 16:29.09.

Kayleigh Willman’s time was 16:43.65, while Eva Heady ran in 16:43.86.

Maria Schatzl finished in 18:22.25, Breanna Mayberry 18:24.80 and Maddie Joslin 18:34.57.

The Lady Eagles finished in 12th place with 340 points.

Farmington led the way with 52 points. Hillsboro was second, Francis Howell, third, Ft. Zumwalt South fourth and Holt fifth.

Seckman, St. Pius X, Cape Central, Arcadia Valley and Owensville rounded out the top 10.

St. Charles preceded Sullivan in 11th.

Lutheran St. Charles came in 13th, Fox was 14th and Ft. Zumwalt East 15th.

St. Louis Christian Homeschool, Battle and Northwest rounded out the field.
