Sullivan Finishes 2-2 At Crackerjack Shack Invitational

Sullivan completed their final regular season tournament of the year October 5 at the Crackerjack Shack Invitational in Springfield, coming away with a 2-2 record.

The Lady Eagles defeated Glendale, 11-1 and Monett, 7-6 while taking losses to Liberty (Kansas City), 7-6 and Battle, 11-5.

With Addison Purvis shelved for the weekend, Sullivan divvied up the pitching between Hanna Johanning, Jaedin Blankenship and Hannah Cox.

Blankenship drew starts against Glendale and Battle. She went five innings, allowed one earned run and struck out four in Sullivan’s win over Glendale.

Against Battle, she lasted into the second inning and surrendered six runs. Blankenship also saw action in games against Liberty and Monett.

Johanning started against Liberty and Monett. She went four innings against Liberty, allowing five earned runs and striking out three. 

In a start against Monett, Johanning pitched six innings, allowed four earned runs and struck out six.

Cox picked up the final eight outs in an 11-1 loss to Battle.

Glendale

The tournament began October 4 with Sullivan scoring multiple runs in four innings.

Kloey Blanton had three singles and three RBIs for the Lady Eagles, who battered Glendale with a dozen hits.

Madyson Stahl, Hanna Johanning and Hannah Cox each had two hits. Johanning doubled twice and drove in three runs. She also scored for runs.

Sophia Weirich and Blankenship both had hits.

Liberty

Sullivan turned around and faced Liberty in the next pool game.

They held a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, then watched Liberty score five runs and walk away with a win.

Stahl and Payton Counts each had two hits, while Weirich homered and drove in two runs.

Kayla Ulrich, Alyssa Sharp and Riley Branson all added singles.

Monett

Sullivan and Monett met the next day, the first time the two programs had faced each other since the 2017 Class 3 quarterfinal.

The Lady Eagles held off a late rally by the Cubs to win 7-6.

Monett scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Sullivan fell behind 2-0 in the first, then added a run in the first and second, three in the third and two in the fifth.

Cox powered Sullivan with a pair of home runs and four RBIs.

Ulrich had three hits, including a double. 

Blanton doubled twice and scored two runs. Counts doubled and drove in a run.

Weirich had a pair of hits.

Battle

Battle overtook Sullivan with a six-run second inning and ran away with an 11-5 victory in the tournament finale.

Battle scored three runs in the first and the Lady Eagles responded with three runs in the second to tie it up.

Stahl had two hits, including one of three doubles. Counts and Ulrich also had two-baggers.

Blanton and Blankenship each had singles.
