Opportunities Missed Against Union; Eagles Top Valley Park

Sullivan made Union goalkeeper Cooper Bailey work.

Bailey faced 17 shots from the Eagles on Wednesday and turned away each one, helping Union secure a 1-0 victory in a pivotal Four Rivers Conference game.

The two teams that shared the FRC crown a year ago are expected to go at it again and Wednesday’s stellar effort by Bailey gives the Wildcats an early advantage.

Sullivan (4-4, 1-1) limited Union to just three shots on goal, but Isaac Boboc’s first-half goal past Kaleb White was the difference. Jack Wagnaar assisted.

The Eagles were coming off a 4-1 victory one night earlier against Valley Park.

Jacob Brooks, Collin Immekus, Kevin Padilla and Colton Ward tallied goals for Sullivan, which scored three in the second half.

Ian Steinkamp had Valley Park’s only goal.

White stopped two shots for the Eagles.

Up Next

Sullivan played at the St. Charles West Tournament on Saturday. Games continue through next week.

After that, they travel to Southern Boone, Warrenton and Pacific.

The Eagles play at home again on Thursday, October 10 against Dixon.
