Lady Eagles Picked No. 1 In Preseason Poll

With an all-state forward in Mallory Shetley, an experienced group of seniors and the best defense in the area, Four Rivers Conference coaches landed on Sullivan as the No. 1 team in the preseason poll.

The Lady Eagles led a tight three-way group at the top.

Sullivan received five first place, one second place and one fourth place vote.

Hermann came in second with one first place, three second place and two third place votes.

Union was point behind after garnering one first place, four second place and two third place votes.

Sullivan beat expectations last season after being picked fourth in the preseason poll. They won a share of the conference title and bring back all but three players.

Kya Harbour, Riley Lock, Porscha Polanowski, Payton Dudley and Casey Licklider give the Lady Eagles six seniors, while junior guard Hanna Johanning and sophomore guard Rylee Denbow round out the roster.

Hermann won the district championship last season, but the Lady Bearcats graduated key contributors Allison Stiers and Emma Godat.

Quincy Erickson is back for her senior season after averaging 15 points per game and Grace Winkelmann is a junior who should play a bigger role.

Union was 16-11 last season, but expectations have been raised with the returning Emily Gaebe, who averaged 14 points per game as a sophomore.

In addition, the Lady Wildcats have brought in alum Pat Rapert and daughter Reagan, who was an all-state guard in Arkansas last season.

St. James was picked fourth and had three third place, three fourth place and one sixth place vote.

St. Clair finished fifth and took in one third place, four fourth place and two fifth place votes.

Coming in sixth was Owensville, which received six fifth place and one sixth place vote.

Pacific was picked seventh with five sixth place and two seventh place votes.

New Haven was selected eighth and received one sixth place and six seventh place votes.
