Dace Signs To Play Football At Missouri S&T

2020 Sullivan High School graduate Carter Dace signed in May to continue his football career at Missouri S&T.

Dace was a Four Rivers all-conference linebacker last season. He will pursue an engineering degree.

He nearly joined fellow teammate Tristan Brown at Missouri Valley, but Missouri S&T — one of the nation’s top engineering schools — is a natural fit.

Dace also believes his path to getting more on-field snaps is better, citing a smaller roster. He said he will redshirt his first season and have more opportunities to gain scholarship money as he goes along.

The Miners also are coming off a 7-4 season

Missouri S&T competes in the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and is a Division II program.

Head coach Todd Drury enters his second season. He has been on the Miners coaching staff the previous six seasons.

Dace said he will be slotted at linebacker, where he lined up for three varsity seasons at Sullivan.

In his senior year, he had 52 tackles, eight sacks and one fumble recovery. His eight sacks led the team.

Dace also saw time at fullback. He ran for 300 yards and one touchdown.

During his junior season, Dace piled up 318 yards on just 53 carries. He found the end zone twice.

Dace said his best memories involve just being on the field with his teammates.

“I played with those guys forever,” he said.

He also takes pride in the 2019 team being the first Sullivan squad to win a season opener since 2012 and post a winning record since 2013.

“The first winning record in six years was big,” he said.

Dace also turned in a solid season on the wrestling mat in 2019, finishing third-place in the Class 2 District 1 tournament.
