Russell R. Wasson, age 81, of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Cuba Manor, Cuba, MO.

Russell Richard Wasson was born on May 30, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Russell Reid Wasson and Anna Marie Bosch. Russ attended the St. Louis School System, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1956. He then attended the Apostolic Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduating in 1958.

He married Jerris G. Sanders on November 1, 1958 in a double ceremony along with Jerris’ sister, Marjorie Sanders, who wed Joseph D. Kuhn.  The ceremony took place at the Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Church with Rev. Harry Branding and Guy Roam officiating.

Russ subsequently joined the U.S. Air Force in April of 1959, where he spent the next twenty years working as a computer systems analyst and programmer. He and Jerris raised two children and lived in various locations including England, New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Arizona and finally finished in Hawaii, retiring in 1979. They then returned to their home in St. Louis, MO where he worked another twenty plus years in computer programming and operations, finally retiring to Bourbon, MO in 2005. He enjoyed the company of his wife of 61 years, their two sons, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.  Russ loved reading and singing to the children, attending church and teaching Sunday school, travelling occasionally to Hawaii and other locales, as well as spending countless hours on the garden tractor.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Jerris G. (Sanders) Wasson of Bourbon, MO; two sons, Russell D. Wasson and wife, Dorcas, of Bourbon, MO, and Kerry L. Wasson and wife, Judith, of Hawaii; one sister, Janet Sharp of Farmington, MO; six grandchildren:  Danielle A. Waldron and husband, Stephen, of Bourbon, MO, David K. Wasson of Bourbon, MO, Dana H. Booker and husband, Jordan, of Bourbon, MO, Krista Joy L. Wasson of California, Nathaniel K. Wasson of California, and Angelina J.M. Wasson of California; 7 great-grandchildren:  Kaelyn, Brylee, Kinzey, Jaden, Karter, Sophia, and Raegan; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Reid Wasson; his mother, Anna Marie (Bosch) Bokerman; stepfather, Fred Bokerman; grandmother, Cora Wasson; an aunt, Hazel Wilson; and brother-in-law, Lavon Sharp.

Funeral Services were conducted at 12 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastors Kerry Wasson and Jordan Booker as the officiants. Interment followed in Bourbon Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Friday, at the Eaton Funeral Home.
