George R. Vincenc, age 83, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.

George Richard Vincenc was born on October 18, 1935 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Michael John and Catherine Mary (Stitz) Vincenc. He grew up and attended school at St. Peter & Paul in South St. Louis, graduating high school in 1953. As a young man, he was a driver for Coca-Cola, as well as working for a bowling alley as a pinsetter. Later, he began an Apprenticeship with Local 36 Sheet Metal Workers and he became a skilled welder and sheet metal journeyman, retiring in 1995. George was united in marriage to Mary Carey on July 4, 1964 in Sullivan, MO. To this union, one daughter was born, Nancy. They resided in Sullivan, where they attended St. Anthony Catholic Church. George was also a member of Masonic Lodge.

George was a very hard worker and always attended his union meetings. In his retirement years, he was able to do some traveling.  George also liked to attend and have yard sales, do some gardening, and watching football, the St. Louis Cardinals and boxing. He was known for grilling BBQ pork steaks. George enjoyed time spent with family and liked visiting with people. You could always count on George being there, but you could bet he would be fashionably late.

George is survived by his wife, Mary Vincenc of Sullivan; five children: Kimberly Vincenc of St. Louis, MO, Steven Vincenc and wife, Debbie, of Columbus, OH, Johnny Vinczencz of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Nancy Tyree and husband, Eddie, of Sullivan, MO, and Robert “Buck” Ahrens and wife, Pam, of Bourbon, MO; 8 grandchildren:  Ryan Ousley of San Antonio, TX, Heather Vincenc of Columbus, OH, Zachariah Vinczencz of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Austin Tyree of Sullivan, MO, Wesley Tyree of Sullivan, MO, Blane Ahrens of Bourbon, MO, Cole Ahrens of Bourbon, MO, and Mark Vincenc of North Carolina; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Boudreaux of San Francisco, CA; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Vincenc; his parents, Michael and Catherine Vincenc; and four siblings:  Helen Becker, Kay Fund, Frank Vincenc, and Michael Vincenc, Jr.

Funeral Mass was conducted 11 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, with Father Paul Telken Celebrating. Interment followed in St. Anthony Cemetery in Sullivan.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
