Doris E. Clemens, 90, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

Doris Ellen Ridlon was born in Ironton, Minnesota, on January 20, 1930, to Douglas Phillip and Vida Fern (Line) Ridlon. Doris was united in marriage to Richard Clemens on February 4, 1946 in Brainerd, Minnesota, and they were blessed with six children:  David, Carol, Diane, Lynn, Denise and Michelle. Richard was employed as a miner and he and Doris moved their family to Sullivan in 1964, where he worked for Pea Ridge Mine. Doris was a stay at home Mom until Michelle was 3 years of age. Her first job was at a turkey factory in Aitkin, Minnesota. She then worked at a variety of places, including Fashion Shoe, Oasis, Meramec Industries, Car-Quest and Aerofil Technology. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano, fishing and Budweiser.  

Doris was a member Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan.

Doris donated her body to Logan University. She was a life-longer learner and wished to continue her legacy with this last gift. 

Doris is survived by her children:  David Clemens and wife, Betty, of Union, MO, Carol Johnson of Rolla, MO, Diane Clemens, Lynn Clemens, both of Sullivan, MO, Denise Rutsch and husband, Joe, of Villa Ridge, MO, and Michelle Clemens of Sterling Heights, MI; seven grandchildren:  Melanie Smith and husband, Jim, Tiffany Pritchett and husband, Travis, Lori Clemens, Connie Meek and husband, Nathan, Lisa Matthews-Kelley, Katherine Rutsch and husband, Tyler Hassell, and Bruce Rutsch and wife, Kristi; 14 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings:  Arlene Peterson, Bernice Matti and husband, Glen, all of Minnesota, Laverne Williams of Farmington, MO, Rochelle Hudgens and husband Jerry of Texas; Tyrone Ridlon and wife, Renee, of Philadelphia, PA, Karen Northburg and husband, Jeff, of Minnesota, Vicki Oppelt and husband, Steve, of Wisconsin;  nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Clemens; parents, Douglas and Vida Ridlon; 2 grandsons, Richard “Rick” Ray, Jr. and Albert J. Rutsch III; grandson-in-law, Nick Brockman; three brothers, Richard, Jerry and Nathan Ridlon; and one sister, Marion Fern Ridlon in infancy. 

A Memorial service was held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2020 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan with Pastor Lew Ensor officiating. The family received friends from 1 p.m – 2 p.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions in Doris’ memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Heartland Hospice and/or St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
