David L. Bridgett, age 70, of Leasburg, MO, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at his home.

David Lee Bridgett was born on February 24, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Eugene Irving and Effie Eliza (Watson) Bridgett. He grew up and attended school in St. Louis – Tower Grove. David developed a strong work ethic early in life. As a boy, he went to work doing various jobs in order to support his family. David was united in marriage to Shirley Henry on May 7, 1980 and to this union, three children were born:  David Jr., Tracie and Randy. 

David served his country in the United States Army, during Vietnam, until he was honorably discharged in 1970. He then began working for Wonder/Hostess and was employed by them for 33 years before retiring in 2001. In 1993, David and his family moved to Leasburg, MO. Sadly, Shirley passed away in December 2009. David enjoyed drag racing, hot rods, car shows, barbequing, watching his favorite tv shows, and some camping when his family was young. David will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.

David is survived by six children: Shari Henry of St. Clair, MO, Brian Carter and wife, Yvonne, of Kansas City, MO, Christina Jones of Steelville, MO, David Bridgett, Jr. and wife, Crystal, of Leasburg, MO, Tracie Copeland and husband, Ronnie, of Leasburg, MO, and Randy Bridgett and wife, Meghan, of Leasburg, MO; three sisters: Debbie Dodd of Maplewood, MO, Diane Twine and husband, Mike, of Fenton, MO, and Maryann Bridgett of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Raymond Bridgett of Leasburg, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Bridgett; one daughter, Rhonda Bridgett; his parents, Eugene and Effie Bridgett; one sister, Betty Juerning; and one brother, Larry Bridgett.

Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Harold Harrison as the officiant. Burial, with full military honors, was held at 2 p.m. in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Visitation was held from 9-11 a.m., Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home.
