Tractor Trailer Overturns Near Sullivan

Two New Jersey truck drivers sustained injuries following a single vehicle accident on westbound I-44 at the 228.6 mile marker, Thursday morning, October 10, at 4:10 a.m.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the accident occurred when Gloria V. Ortiz-Rodregues, 68, Newark New Jersey, operating a westbound 2017 International Tractor Trailer traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the road, overturned onto its right side and skidded off the left side of the roadway into the median.

Rodrigues and a passenger, Luis E. Bustan, 68, Newark, New Jersey, each received moderate and minor injuries respectively. Both were transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, by Missouri Baptist Ambulance,

The accident cleanup caused major traffic delays in the area for several hours Thursday as crews worked to clear the wreckage from the scene.

The tractor and trailer were a total loss.
