State Canceled Feb. 15-19 Mass Vaccination Events

All COVID-19 mass vaccination events were canceled Feb. 15-19.

Gov. Mike Parson announced Feb. 15 they were being canceled due to extreme winter weather.

“Missouri is experiencing severe winter weather that makes driving dangerous and threatens the health and safety of anyone exposed to the cold. These conditions will also likely delay some vaccine shipments,” Parson said. “We want to protect the safety of everyone involved in the mass vaccination events, from the patients being vaccinated to the volunteers who generously support these events.”

Mass events were planned for all nine of Missouri’s highway patrol regions.

The fourth week was supposed to mark the beginning of the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine being administered.

Parson said the state is making efforts to reschedule the events.

Individuals who were registered are encouraged to reach out to other vaccinators in their area.

Parson said that arriving vaccines for the week would be distributed to community hospitals.

The governor announced that the delay would not affect the efficacy of the second shot.

The second dose may be administered as late as six weeks after the first dose.

“We are extremely appreciative of all the hard work, sacrifices, and rapid adjustments that are being made by our state and local partners to quickly get the vaccine into arms across our state,” Parson said.
