Rolla Man Sought After Shots Fired Near Deputy

Area authorities are searching for a Rolla man after he allegedly fired shots near the location of a Crawford County sheriff's deputy on Thursday on Landers Road.

Kevin Griffin, 41, is considered armed and dangerous. Griffin has an active warrant for a parole violation.

According to Major Adam Carnal of the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, a deputy was taking a report of a theft in the 100 block of Landers Road when shots were fired nearby. The deputy approached the area of the shots and was notified by several subjects that a man -- identified as Griffin -- had fled.

Officers from the sheriff's department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sullivan Police Department were mobilized to track Griffin down.

Griffin reportedly fled after witnessing a deputy in the area. Several subjects attempted to apprehend him and Griffin allegedly fired shots to deter anyone from taking him in.

Authorities canvassed the area for several hours, but he was not located.

Carnal said citizens should not make contact with Griffin and anyone who sees him should contact dispatch at 573-775-4911.
