Leasburg Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Gun At Vehicle, Injuring 2

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Leasburg man on Friday after he allegedly fired a gun at a vehicle and injured a juvenile.

Michael Watring, 41, faces charges for first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a concealable firearm and endangering the welfare of a child.

A nine-count warrant was issued for Watring’s arrest and he was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Crawford County Jail.

According to Sheriff Darin Layman, three victims said they were traveling on Old Leasburg Road when their vehicle was struck by gunfire. 

One victim suffered an injury as a result of the bullet grazing his head and a juvenile was injured from broken glass.

Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Old Leasburg Road and arrested Watring.

Watring allegedly admitted during an interview that he shot at the vehicle and was on controlled substances.
