Public Hearing On Four-Day Schedule Thursday
The Bourbon School Board is holding a public hearing Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on the proposed four-day school week during the 2020-2021 year.
School board members have been discussing a four-day week since December and the next calendar needs to be approved by this month.
Bourbon may become one of the 60-plus districts in the state to drop Mondays from the school week while adding more minutes to the day.
More information will be available on this in the March 25 issue of the Independent News.
Board members also will approve a FY2020-2021 salary step increase for certified staff, approve the number of spots available for students at RTI/RTC and authorize the exit from the South Central Education Consortium.
A date must also be set for the board reorganization.
Superintendent Dr. Kyle Gibbs will provide an update on the no tax increase bond issue that will go before voters on April 4 and the ongoing projects.
An update on coronavirus also is expected.
Closed session will be held for personnel and possible litigation.
