Fall Festival, BBQ Competition Take Shape

The annual Fall Festival and third annual BBQ With Bourbon are beginning to take shape with less than a month to go.

The Fall Festival will be held Friday, September 13 and the Bourbon Economic Development Group is hosting its BBQ With Bourbon pork steak competition on Saturday, September 14.

The parade kicks off festivities on Friday at 6 p.m. with the theme of “Paving the Way Forward.” The Bourbon Booster Club chose it as as a tie-in with the rebuild of Pine Street.

A new Junior Miss Bourbon will be crowned at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Businesses and candidates are needed. Girls ages 13-15 and attending school in the Bourbon School District are eligible.

A silent auction will be held at the community center and the Boosters are looking for items. To donate, they ask for the items to be dropped off at Bremer Hardware or Town & Country Bank.

The Boosters are adding a large screen to show movies and possibly an obstacle course.

BBQ With Bourbon

Saturday’s events include the pork steak competition and car show.

Bourbon whiskey must be used in the preparation of pork steaks.

Jeff Redhage is emceeing the car show and it has expanded to 20 classes.

Judging for both competitions will be held at 2:30 p.m.
