City Hoping To Pave Pine Street Next Month

The city of Bourbon is hoping to have Pine Street construction complete by next month.

Bourbon’s city council accepted a bid from NB West at the end of 2020.

NB West came in with the only bid, submitting $131,241.50.

The bid had to be approved by the Meramec Regional Planning Commission and Missouri Department of Economic Development.

NB West will do a 10-inch sub grade aggregate base with six inches of asphaltic concrete

More than 1,500 linear feet of striping will be performed and new handicap symbols will be painted at designated spots.

The project should take just a few days.

It’s been more than three years since the city announced it had received a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant to completely overhaul the infrastructure of the street.

Everything from new sewer and water lines, curbing and guttering and most importantly — a new street — were in the works.

The city promised a massive investment of in-kind labor and workers have rebuilt several broken curbs, gutters and sidewalk since late 2019.

The last part of the project has been ongoing in front of Bremer Hardware for the past few weeks.

It can all come to an end soon.

Bourbon has received extensions to carry over the project into 2019, 2020 and 2021.
