Wrestling Dominates On An Unforgettable Senior Night
“We will be cheering you on every step of the way,” was the last line in the speech that head coach Carl Lawrence gave to his boys on Senior Night on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The seniors’ coaches and teammates celebrated them for their efforts in building up the program to where it is today.
Both varsity wrestling teams also made it an unforgettable night by dominating their home mat. The boys defeated St. Mary’s South Side Catholic 60-18 and Windsor (Imperial) 47-33. The Lady Eagles beat Windsor (Imperial) 42-36 and Union 42-6, with their only loss being to Lebanon at 62-18.
Boys
Camden Henderson (113) collected 12 points with a win by forfeit and a quick takedown of Zakary Mason (Windsor) in 1:39.
Carter Blankenship (120) also picked up a victory by forfeit for 6 points and would lose an 8-2 decision to Brayden Belding (Windsor).
Oliver Borton (126) collected 11 total points for his team. He won by forfeit and claimed victory by a 15-0 technical fall over Cameron Woods (Windsor).
Conner Roach (132) earned 12 points with a win by forfeit and quickly pinning Kaeden Williams (Windsor) in 1:12.
Eli Peregoy (138) shut down Brody Green (Windsor) in 1:07 for a score of 6.
Draysen Nolie (138) fell at 5:20 in a long, grueling match against Leo Niyonizigiye (St. Mary's).
Dominic Ransom (144) grabbed 12 team points by overcoming Chris Malamas (St. Mary's) in 2:29 and Chase Vawter (Windsor) in 2:00.
Bryce Goings (150) was defeated by Brian Schenck (Windsor) in a 5:38 fall.
Adam Peregoy (150) seized a victory by forfeit for 6 points but fell to Nick Baer (Windsor) at 4:37 to close out the night.
