Wednesday Wrestling Dual At Sullivan

The Sullivan Eagles wrestling team had their first home meet of the year on Wednesday. There was a great turnout of wrestlers and fans from Washington and Sullivan. The girls wrestled first and were defeated by Washington, 72-12. The boys battled hard and won more matches but lost to the Blue Jays, 51-27.

Girls

Washington won the first five matches, unopposed.

For the 125 class, Karen Dietzler battled Kendra Bliss. Bliss got points right off, but Dietzler battled back to earn points. Dietzler was pinned at fifty nine seconds by Bliss.

Jade Studdard and Stella Secor wrestled for 130. Studdard and Secor stood and grappled before Secor got the take down. Studdard was pinned at 5:03.

For 135, Sadie Altimus was taken down and pinned by Annelise Obermark at forty seven seconds.

Brianna James of Washington was unopposed for 140.

Dorie Richardson dominated Kristin Sprung of Washington for 145 the whole match. Richardson got a huge take down and was on top right at the start. She controlled her opponent and dominated the whole match. She scored 12 points unanswered and then picked up the pin at 4:16.

For 155, Maria Schatzl put a up a battle against Maggie Ortmann. Schatzl was taken down, but up a reversal and stood her ground. Schatzl was pinned by Ortmann at 1:39.

Loren Thurmon and Paytin Welsh of Washington were unopposed for 170 and 190.

Reya Bristow won for 235, unopposed.

Boys

For 106, Aiden Raegan was pinned by Camden Henderson at 1:52.

Carter Blankenship battled Parker Kelpe for 113. Blankenship performed a reversal, but was taken down and pinned at 1:57.

For 120, Oliver Borton was pinned by Couper Deckard at 1:19.

Sam Hect was pinned by Devon Deckelman at 5:22 for 126.

For 132, Jace Martin was pinned by Will Kelpe at forty one seconds.

Dominic Ransom controlled Tristen Koehmstedt for most of the match for 138. He was up 6-1 in points and almost got the pin but the round was over. The two wrestlers were evenly matched and the score was 12-5 when the boys standing up. Ransom picked up the win by a 12-7 decision.

For 144, Drayson Nolie picked up a good double leg takedown. He picked up a reversal against Alec Pecka. Pecka returned with a reversal of his own and Nolie was pinned at 5:03.

Adam Peregoy returned for 150. The junior had control early and took down Jackson Thornton quickly. Thornton was saved by the buzzer. Peregoy took control once the action returned and picked up the pin at 4:55.

Washington's Casey Olszowka was unopposed for 157.

For 165, Colton Brendel got a great double leg takedown against Danny Williams. Brendel controlled Williams the whole matched and slammed his opponent more than once. He pinned Williams at 2:25.

Kayden Bryan and Nolan Hendrix put on a show for 175. The points were tied at two and Hendrix took control. Bryan tied the points again at four and the two were evenly matched. Bryan was defeated by a 6-5 decision.

Kane Strehl was pinned by Tanner Schwoeppe at 1:08 for 190.

For 215, Jacob Patton battled Tyrese Thurmon. Thurmon controlled but Patton picked up a reversal. Patton controlled the rest of the matched and pinned Thurmon at 2:28.

Jeremiah Rodriguez represented Sullivan for 285. He battled Mac Ruoff and was pinned by Ruoff after a big takedown at 1:18.
