Sullivan Wrestling Claims Sixth On Saturday
The Sullivan Eagles competed against some of the toughest schools on Saturday at the Liberty Wentzville Invitational. The Eagles wrestling team finished with 105 points. Centralia claimed the team championship with 262 points and were followed by Fort Madison with 208. Francis Howell Central got 149 and was followed by Warrenton with 125. Holt rounded out the top five with 105.5 points.
Camden Henderson finished in fifth place for the 106 weight class. He started with a bye and was pinned by Aaron Watson of St. Charles West at fifty two seconds in round one. In round two, he received a bye. In round three, he was pinned by Centralia’s Bryson Dubes. He won the fifth place match with a 5-0 decision over Austin Springer of Kirksville.
For 113, Carter Blankenship medaled in fourth place. He was pinned by Fulton’s Cole Blattner in two minutes. He then received a bye and lost to a technical fall of 16-0 by Jaden Crisp of Kirksville at 5:33. Blankenship defeated Chaz Mitchell of Francis Howell by a 4-2 decision. Blankenship was pinned by Crisp in the third place match at 1:35.
Oliver Borton finished in fifth place for 120. He was pinned in round one by Cooper Mortensen of Ladue Horton Watkins at 3:22. He received a bye in round three and in round four he was pinned by Warrenton’s Jeremiah Kassing at 1:30. In round five, he pinned Dylan Myers of Francis Howell Central at 1:33. Borton pinned Fulton’s Cameron Cummins in the fifth place match at 1:33.
For 126, Sam Hecht defeated Amir Reed of Fort Zumwalt East by a sudden victory of 10-8. In round three, he was pinned by Logan Pennock of Fort Madison at 2:45. He was pinned by Warrenton’s Noah Lohrmann at 1:28 in the quarterfinals. Hecht was pinned by Charlie Reid of St. Charles at 2:56 in the consolation round one. Ethan Kirt of St. Charles West defeated Hecht by a major decision 8-0 in the seventh place match.
Draysen Nolie had a good showing for 144. He pinned Fulton’s Gunner Holt at 3:10. In round one, he was pinned by Sam Loiterstein of Ladue Horton Watkins at 4:53. Nolie was pinned in round two by Alex Nickelson of Festus in forty seven seconds. In round three, he was pinned by Luke Cahalan of Kirksville at 3:50. Cahalan won again in the fifth place match with a pin at 3:15.
Adam Peregoy finished in fifth place for 150. He pinned James Rowe of Ladue Horton Watkins in round one at 3:33. In round two, he fell to Holt’s Boston Howard by a 7-2 decision. Peregoy pinned Ritenour’s Mikeal Tran in thirty nine seconds in round four. In round five, Centralia’s Ethan Adams won by a 5-3 decision. Peregoy won the fifth place match by a pin at 5:57 over Fulton’s Kaden Barnes.
Colton Brendel medaled in third place for 157. He pinned Pattonville’s Nicholas Sunderman at 3:12 in round one. In round two, he was pinned by Emmett Kruse of Fort Madison at 2:21. Holt’s Andrew Peppin was pinned by Brendel in round three at 4:41. He won the third place match with a pin over Koan McAtee of Kirksville at 4:29.
Wieland Schmuke represented 165. Warrenton’s Anthony Lombardo won in round one by an 18-5 major decision. Schmuke lost in round two to Peyton Shaver of Festus. He lost the rest of his matches and received a bye in round six.
For 175, Kayden Bryan fell in the fifth place match. In round one, he pinned Isaiah Yoder of Wright City at 2:17. Bryan pinned Pattonville’s David Luebbers at 1:03 in round three. In round four, Teague Smith of Fort Madison pinned Bryan in fifty-eight seconds. Lucas Mercurio of Festus won by a 10-0 major decision in round five. Bryan was pinned by Centralia’s Mason Adkisson at 3:32 in the fifth place match.
Kane Strehl fell in the seventh place match for 190. He won in round one over Gage Lesire of St. Charles West. Centralia’s Ian Tuggle pinned Strehl in round three at 3:47. In the quarterfinals, Warrenton’s Jacob Ruff pinned him at 1:08. Strehl was pinned by Edward Fawcett of Francis Howell Central at 4:40. He lost the seventh place match by a 4-0 decision by Kolton Martin of Liberty Wentzville.
Jacob Patton medaled in fourth place for 215. In round two, he pinned Pattonville’s Da’Veon Washington. In round three, Patton defeated Holt’s Dalton Hosack. Ritenour’s Billy Hall was pinned in the quarterfinals at 2:32. Issac Thacher of Fort Madison pinned Patton at 1:20 in the semifinals. Patton was pinned by Jose Juaraez of Palmyra in the third place match at 5:56.
Jeremiah Rodriguez finished in fifth place for 285. In round two, he was pinned by Centralia’s Seth Hasekamp at 3:20. Fulton’s Garrett Hufstedler won by a 4-3 decision in round three. Rodriguez pinned Holt’s Aidan Allison at 1:11 in round four. Pattonville’s Angelo Broadnax was pinned in round five at 3:37. Rodriguez won the fifth place match when he pinned Cody Drury of Kirksville at 2:16.
