Sullivan Wins Linn Tourney Championship

The Eagles swept their basketball opponents this week. Sullivan played three games in three rounds and won all of them. They were tough battles, but Sullivan defeated Belle, South Callaway and Osage. The Eagles defeated Belle, 58-29. Sullivan won against South Callaway next, 37-31. Sullivan went on to barely squeeze by Osage in the championship game, 39-38.

Belle

The Tigers were the first team Sullivan faced at the Linn Tournament. Sullivan was victorious over Belle on Monday, 58-29.

Sullivan forced eight turnovers. Cambrian Koch and Gabe Dace had the most with two. Gavin Dace, Chris Glaser, Aiden Kirk and Sam Summers each caused one. Sullivan made 19 rebounds. Gavin Dance had the most with five. Kirk and Gabe Dace followed with four. Summers earned three and Drake Gawer had two. Max Avery got one. The Eagles collected ten steals with Gavin Dace earning the most with five. Kirk got three and was followed by Summers and Gabe Dace with one each.

Gabe Dace led the team in points with 14. Gavin Dace and Kirk each had 11 and were followed by Gawer with nine. Glaser made three. Matthew Mallory, Ian Tutterow, Avery and Summers all finished with two points each.

South Callaway

Sullivan was exceptional again on Wednesday against the Bulldogs. Even though more points were scored in this bout, the defense shined. Sullivan defeated South Callaway, 37-31.

The Eagles forced ten turnovers. Gabe and Gavin Dace each had two. Glaser and Summers earned two as well. Koch and Gawer each forced one. Sullivan tallied 24 rebounds. Gabe and Gavin Dace led with six each. Summers followed with five and Kirk had four. Gawer finished with three. Sullivan had nine steals and Gabe Dace earned eight. Gawer had the other one.

Gavin Dace led in points with 13. Gabe Dace and Gawer had six. Kirk followed with three. Glaser and Koch finished with two.

Osage

The championship game had the two best teams in the tournament. Both teams battled and Sullivan was victorious. The Eagles won by one, 39-38.

The boys forced 13 turnovers. Gabe Dace led with six. He was followed by his brother, Gavin Dace, and Summers with three. Gawer had one. Sullivan tallied 23 rebounds and Kirk secured ten of them. Summers followed with five. Gabe and Gavin Dace each had three. Glaser and Gawer finished with one each.
