Sullivan Struggles Against Rolla

Sullivan’s boys basketball team fell to Rolla in the first round of the 77th annual St. James Tournament on Monday.
The Eagles fell 60-36.
Sullivan bounced back on Saturday to defeat Licking 59-50 and claim consolation.
Rolla’s defense stopped Sullivan all night, holding the Eagles to 36% shooting.
The Eagles struggled from the beginning. Rolla outscored Sullivan in the first quarter and grabbed an 18-6 lead.
Rolla continued to roll Sullivan in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 22-7. They took a 40-13 lead into the half.
Head Coach Dino McKinney made adjustments at halftime, but the Eagles couldn’t cut into the lead. Rolla opened up a 54-22 lead and began the fourth quarter with a running clock.
Gavin Dace and Blaine Sappington led the team in points with eight. Luke Todd tallied seven points. Sam Summers made five points. Aiden Kirk and Charlie Lohden each scored three points. Kyle Lewis netted two points.
On the defense side of the ball, Sappington led in rebounds with five and had one steal. Kirk secured three rebounds and one assist. Summers recorded three rebounds.
Todd tallied two rebounds. Logan Watters hauled in two rebounds, had one steal, and one assist.
Lewis finished with one rebound, five assists, and one steal. Gavin Dace made one assist. Lohden dishes one assist and secured two steals.
