Sullivan Post 18 Falls By Walk Off

St. Charles Post 312 walked off the Sullivan Post 18 juniors on Thursday with a victory of 5-4.

Dustin Lappe started the game on the mound for Sullivan and between three other pitchers, they recorded 12 strikeouts.

They gave up five runs on eight hits.

The game started when Cambrian Koch singled on a line drive and stole second.

Seth Valley singled on a line drive that scored Koch. Dayton Skaggs hit a ground ball and reached on an error that advanced Valley.

St. Charles tied the game in the bottom of the second. Anden Carey was on the mound for Sullivan and it started with a walk.

With two outs, St. Charles walked again.

Hatcher of Post 312 reached on an error and the bases were loaded. A run was scored on a wild pitch by Carey and the game was tied up until Sullivan’s next at bat.

In the top of the third, Post 18 added to their score.

Koch reached by a walk and Skaggs singled by an in play foul ball that scored Koch.

Skaggs advanced to second and Alex Toews came in as a courtesy runner for him. Beau Beckett singled on a ground ball that advanced Toews.

Lucas Parsons singled on a hard ground ball that scored Towes and advanced Beckett. Beckett was scored by an error made by the catcher before the third out was recorded.

Post 312 tied up the score in the bottom of the sixth. Grant Halmick was pitching for Post 18 and recorded a strikeout to start his outing.

Fink of St. Charles was walked and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. The next batter singled on a hard ground ball and Fink was scored from the next batter. Post 18 made adjustments on the mound and brought Koch for some relief.

A run was scored by St. Charles after an error and the bases were loaded. Post 312 reached first again after an error and a run was added.

The tie was broken on Post 312’s last chance in the bottom of the ninth.

After three singles and a walk the bases were loaded. Another walk was issued by Koch and St. Charles won, 5-4.

Kaden Smith went 3-4. Valley and Skaggs finished the day going 2-5. Koch went 2-4.
