Sullivan Girls Wrestling Open Season
The Lady Eagles wrestling team started their season at the Wright City tournament on Saturday. Sullivan started their season by bringing home three medals. Jade Studdard, Reya Bristow and Maria Schatzl each took some home. Bristow and Studdard took first in their division, and Schatzl medaled in third.
Sadie Altimus pinned Mexico’s Carly Stuart for the 135 class at 1:25.
Katie Summers represented the 145 class. She fell in round two by a 5-0 decision from Madisen Nash of Warrenton. She was pinned in round three at forty seconds by Union’s Gracie Straatman. Union’s Ella Woodside-Purschke pinned her at 1:35 in round four.
Ruby Daily made her return to the mat in the 170 class. She pinned Allison Vacek of Warrenton at 3:35 in the first round. In the second round, she was pinned by Union’s Gianna Schrek at twenty eight seconds. Daily pinned Vacek in the fifth round match at 2:16.
Schatzl took home a third place medal in the 155 class. She pinned Union’s Ashley Wright in the first round at forty-nine seconds. She was pinned in the fifth round by Breanne Gibbs of Moberly at 1:23. Sullivan’s Hannah Sumner represented the 155 class too. She was pinned by Gibbs in the first round at forty seconds and pinned Wright in the fourth round at forty-four seconds.
Bristow pinned Mexico’s Alexus Johns in round three at an extraordinary eight seconds to bring home the first place medal. Johns pinned Sullivan’s Kenzy Mattingly in round two at 4:14.
