Sullivan Falls To Union On Friday
The Eagles ended their week at court warming. The Union Wildcats have been a tough team all season. Sullivan battled with Union and each team tallied a lot of points. The Wildcats were victorious over Sullivan, 57-44.
In the first quarter, Union grabbed the lead early. The Wildcats scored their first five points unanswered until Sam Summers landed a layup. He landed another one after a Union layup and Union’s Ryan Rapert then answered back with another layup. Summers netted yet another layup and Chris Glaser placed one in after he lost the defender on a big crossover juke. Summers tied the game up with two free throws and Rapert broke the tie with a layup at the buzzer, 12-10.
In the second quarter, the two teams continued to battle. Sullivan tied the game when Summers made a jumping layup. Head Coach Dino McKinney took a timeout and Union scored two free throws. Coach McKinney took another timeout and Summers scored a layup when he secured a rebound. Sullivan took the lead on a free throw and Union grabbed the lead back the same way. Summers took the lead back with a layup and Union’s Ozzie Smith sailed in a three point basket to take the lead back. Glaser was heating up when he sailed in a three point basket from the top of the key. Gavin Dace added a free throw and Union’s Kieran Wors took the lead back with a three point basket. Glaser tallied two more free throws and Rapert sailed in a three point basket at the buzzer. Union had a substantial lead, 32-23.
In the third quarter, the Eagles tried to bridge the gap the best they could. Smith grabbed two free throws and followed it with a three point basket. Coach McKinney took a timeout and Kirk landed a layup. Union took a timeout and Summers tallied another free throw. Summers sailed in another two layups before Coach McKinney took another timeout. Summers and Gavin Dace kept Sullivan scoring and Gavin Dace made a jumping layup at the buzzer. The Wildcats led the Eagles still, 45-36.
In the final quarter, the Wildcats secured the win. Rapert tallied another layup and Gavin Dace added one point with a free throw. Aiden Kirk gave the Eagles a much needed three pointer and Smith answered back with one of his own. Rapert was on a roll and finished off Sullivan from the free throw line, 57-44.
Summers led in points with 22 and Gavin Dace followed with 10. Glaser grabbed seven and Kirk finished with five.
