Sullivan Eagles Football Ready For Gridiron Battles

The Sullivan Eagles are geared up to start another season. Last year, Sullivan finished with a 5-6 record on the season. The roller coaster season brought a win their first week and was followed by three losses in a row. The determined team took the losses as motivation and won three games in a row. Sullivan then fell two games on the road but notched another win during the first game of districts. Sullivan suffered a heartbreak to the number one seeded Dutchman the next game. Owensville barely squeezed by, 35-28.

The Eagles are looking to avenge those losses this upcoming season so used that as motivation in the off-season.

“We have had a great summer - in fact, the best since I have been at Sullivan - which has made us very excited for the upcoming season,” Head Coach Eddie Haar began.

Coach Haar is getting set for his third season as the head coach. Sullivan is settling into a routine with their familiar head coach.

“We are in great shape overall as a team and our older kids have done a great job enforcing our program expectations to the younger kids,” Coach Haar continued. “I think the strength of our team is THE TEAM. We have been working extremely hard and well together.”

Sullivan has been working hard this summer and has expectations that they want to meet this season.

“There is always an endless amount of things to work on but nothing in particular,” Coach Haar said. “We need to become better each and every day, which is what we are trying to do. We want to be the top team in the conference and district, but in order to do that we just have to take it day by day and focus on improving.”

When it comes to challenges and adversaries the only team that stands in their way is themselves.

“We only need to focus on the Sullivan Eagles,” Coach Haar finished with.

The Eagles will take the field at the Jamboree on Friday and their regular season will begin the following week at home against Northwest.
