Sullivan Boys Win DeSoto Invitational Third Year In A Row

The Sullivan Eagles wrestling team has been on a roll this season. The Eagles have been defeating opponents and scoring points as a team to excel during an already stellar season. Sullivan had three boys win the championship of their weight classes. Five other Eagles medaled for an overall prominent showing at the DeSoto 45th Annual Bob Georger Invitational.

Sullivan won the overall team championship with 182 points. Liberty (Wentzville) followed with 179.5. Sikeston finished in third with 146.5. DeSoto followed with 146. Windsor (Imperial) rounded out the top five with 144.5.

Camden Henderson finished in second place for the 106 weight class. In round one, Henderson was pinned by Kaden Gregg of Valle Catholic at 3:47. Henderson pinned Michael Corrigan of Webster Groves at 3:07 in round two. He pinned Herculaneum’s Tyler Pieper in round three at 1:28.

Carter Blankenship took second place for 113. He received a bye in the first round. In round two, Blankenship pinned Mehlville’s Timothy Andrus at five minutes. He pinned Max Coerver of Windsor at 1:41. Blankenship was pinned in the first place match by DeSoto’s Brenton Drummond at five minutes.

Oliver Borton represented 120. Borton fell to Levi Trautwein of North County by a 7-1 decision in round one. He received a bye in round one of the consolation. Borton fell by a 6-2 decision in the second round of consolation by Amir Reed of Fort Zumwalt East.

Sam Hecht wrestled in the 126 class. He pinned Ethan Weir of Webster Groves at 1:31 in round one. In the quarterfinals, Herculaneum’s Josh Hurt defeated him by a 9-2 decision. Hecht fell to Liberty’s Keagon Williams by a 3-1 decision in round two of the consolation.

Eli Peregoy medaled in fourth place for 132. He received a bye in the first round. In round two, Peregoy defeated Sikeston’s Tristan Leavitt by a 7-2 decision. He fell to Joseph Flieg of Valle Catholic by a 11-0 major decision in the semifinals. Mehlville’s Caleb Gardner defeated Peregoy in the third place match by a 6-2 decision.

Dominic Ransom took home a second place medal for 138. He received a bye in round one. In the quarterfinals, Ransom pinned Potosi’s Garrett Hale at 2:16. He defeated Berkley LaMarque of Liberty by a 14-2 major decision in the semifinals. Ransom was defeated by DeSoto’s Drake Peeler in the first place match by a 11-0 major decision.

Draysen Nolie represented 144. He pinned Mehlville’s Aiden Arnaiz at fifty two in round one. In the quarterfinals, Nolie was pinned by DeSoto’s Hunter Adams at 1:40. He was pinned by Kaiden Brooks of Fort Zumwalt East at 4:44 in the consolation round two.

Adam Peregoy was crowned champion of the 150 class. He received a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Peregoy pinned Central’s Garrett McDowell at 1:15. He defeated Sikeston’s Blayne McDermott at by a 5-3 decision in the semifinals. In the first place match, Peregoy pinned Liberty’s Jackson Bushman at 2:55.

Colton Brendel won the championship for 157. He received a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Sikeston’s Jax Lancaster was pinned at 3:13. In the semifinals, Brendel pinned Dirk Rivera of Fort Zumwalt East at 3:40. Brendel pinned Wentzville’s Justin Little at 1:11 in the first place match.

Wieland Schmuke won two matches for 165. In the first round, he pinned Potosi’s Draven Griffin at 2:43. In the quarterfinals, Schmuke was pinned by Peyton Shaver of Festus at 3:28. Schmuke pinned Hancock’s Donald Bonzano at 2:02 in the consolation round two. In the consolation semifinals, he was pinned by Sikeston’s Sam Lancaster at 3:29.

Parker Montee was defeated in both of his matches for 175. In round one, he was pinned by Davarios Nunley of Cape Girardeau at 1:26. Montee was pinned by Noah Jansen of Webster Groves in the consolation round one at 4:27.

Jordan Rice earned a third place medal for 190. He received a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals, Rice pinned Union’s Traven St. Clair at 4:39. Windsor’s Colin Carter defeated Rice by a 21-5 technical fall in the semifinals. In the third place match, he pinned Jacob Calbreath of Vakke Catholic at 2:26.

Jeremiah Rodriguez was the 215 champion. He received a bye in the first round. He pinned Windsor’s Riley Weisner at 3:24 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Rodriguez pinned DeSoto’s Cory Dierks at 3:26. He pinned North County’s Mason Lay in the first place match at 2:58.

Nolan Center finished the day for 285. In round one, he was pinned by Mehlville’s Devon Scott at 3:59. Center received a bye in the first round of the consolation. In consolation round two, he was defeated by Windsor’s Clay Scott by a 2-0 decision.
