Sullivan Baseball Splits Two Away Games

The Eagles traveled to Pacific on Wednesday and played another road game on Friday against Jefferson. Sullivan fell to the Indians by one, 5-4. They bounced back and were victorious against Jefferson, 16-1.

Pacific

The boys opened up the scoring first with three runs and Pacific tied the game at the bottom of the second. The Eagles took the lead at the top of the fourth, but the Indians secured the win with two more runs. Sullivan fell to Pacific, 5-4.

In the first inning, Cambrian Koch hit a line drive single and Chase Blue slammed a home run to left field and scored the first two runs of the game. Seth Valley scored the third run with a ground ball single.

In the fourth inning, they took the lead at their at bat. Valley hit a line drive single and stole second. Mitchell Garner hit a line drive single and Valley advanced to third. Valley scored on a sacrifice fly by Nolan Ulrich. The Indians secured the win in their next at bat.

Sullivan recorded eleven hits. Gavin Schmidt, Koch, and Valley all went 2-3.

Koch was the pitcher the whole game and had four strikeouts.

Jefferson

Sullivan bounced back from their previous loss in great fashion. They took the early lead in the first inning with five runs. The Eagles secured the win in the third inning with nine more unanswered runs. Jefferson got their only run in the fourth and Sullivan tallied two more runs in the fifth. The boys collapsed Jefferson, 16-1.

In the first inning, Sullivan surged past Jefferson right away with five runs. Koch was walked and Schmidt hit a ground ball single. Blue was walked and the bases were loaded. Koch scored on a passed ball and Schmidt scored when Drake Gawer hit a line drive single to right. Blue scored when Lucas Parsons hit a fly ball single. A run was scored by a successful sacrifice by Garner. Parsons scored when Valley hit a fly ball double to left.

In the third inning, the Eagles added another nine unanswered runs. Parsons singled on a fly ball and Garner followed with a hit by a pitch. Dayton Skaggs sliced a fly ball to center field and scored both runs on a double. Valley scored a run with a successful sacrifice fly to center. Ulrich landed a line drive single and Koch followed with a walk. The bases were loaded when Schmidt landed on an error. Two runs were scored when Jefferson walked two runs in. Schmidt scored on a fielder’s choice and Blue scored on an error. Another run was on a sacrifice out and another run scored when Valley landed on a ground ball single to left. The Eagles scored two more runs in the fifth inning to seal the win.

Koch went 3-3 at the plate. Valley and Parsons both were 2-2.

Gawer was the starting pitcher and tallied five strikeouts on the mound.
