Post 18 Wins With Walk Off Run

Sullivan Post 18 won with a big comeback late in the game against Eureka Post 177 on Wednesday.

Eureka took control of the game early when they scored seven runs in the first inning.

Post 18 was down by three runs before they rallied in the final inning and scored two runs on an error.

Post 18 was victorious 9-8.

In the first inning, Eureka’s Duerfahrd reached on an error. He then advanced and scored on two different wild pitches. Westover hit a ground ball and reached on an error.

He then stole second and was brought home by a line drive double by Tocco. Another batter was walked and Tocco was scored after a hit by Orendain.

Eureka scored on a wild pitch and they were up by four. Eureka advanced their lead at their next at bat. Duerfahrd singled on a line drive but was caught stealing before Thornhill singled.

Westover was hit by the pitch. Thornhill and Westover both scored and Tocco landed on first. Tocco eventually scored and Eureka was up 7-0 before Sullivan landed on the board in their next at bat.

In the bottom of the second, Dayton Skaggs singled on a line drive and advanced to second on an error.

Beau Beckett singled on a line drive and Skaggs was advanced. Skaggs was scored on a passed ball and Beckett advanced on the same ball.

Beckett scored on a successful sacrifice ground out.

Eureka extended their lead by one run but Sullivan snapped back in the bottom of the sixth.

Kaden Smith singled on a line drive and was followed by a walk from Cambrian Koch.

Skaggs scored them both in on a tiple. Skaggs was scored when Nate McReynolds singled on a fly ball to center. Sullivan was down by three and got past the top of the seventh without allowing another run.

Alex Toews hit a ground ball and got on via an error. He advanced to third on a wild pitch. Smith scored him home on a successful sacrifice ground out.

A two-out rally was started when Koch was walked and Skaggs was hit by the pitch. Beckett slammed a ground ball and reached on an error and scored Koch.

McReynolds put the Eagles on top when he drilled a ground ball and reached first on an error by the shortstop.

He scored Skaggs and Beckett and Sullivan won in dramatic fashion.

Skaggs was 2-3 and had two RBIs on the day.
