Lady Eaglets Learn To Ace Volleyball At Camp
Sullivan High School had a massive turnout for its youth volleyball camp set from July 29-31.
Almost sixty 6th-8th graders attended the camp, and nearly forty for the 3rd-5th group. Some campers had team experience, while others had never been in a rotation.
The girls dug into the fundamentals of volleyball, working hard to learn everything they needed to know to ace the game.
Volleyball head coach Sarah Rochleau had a supporting cast of almost thirty high schoolers who led sessions with the campers and served them knowledge on the sport. They passed through every topic, from mastering attacks and kills to the mechanics of digging, setting and blocking. The girls then tested their newly acquired skills with quick scrimmages.
If a camper experienced bumps along the way, the coaches were there to help the students through the drills and teach them what problems to block out.
On the final day, all the girls were awarded a T-shirt for putting their best effort on the court. They left the camp with a greater understanding of the sport. The campers learned that winning does not come only from skill but also from teamwork. When the torch is passed to the Lady Eaglets, they will be ready to take flight for the volleyball program.
