Lady Eagles Split Three Games This Week

The Lady Eagles played three soccer games this week.

The girls got their week started when their seven game winning streak was snapped at home against Union, 6-0.

Sullivan bounced back the next day on the road against Crocker, 4-1.

They ended their week on Thursday against Southern Boone with a road loss, 5-2.

Union

The Lady Eagles started their week at home on Tuesday. Union traveled to Sullivan coming off a 4-1 loss to Notre Dame. This was the Lady Wildcats’ second loss of the season. Union had aggressive shooters and the Sullivan defense was not prepared for the battle. Sullivan fell to Union, 6-0.

In the first half, Union came out very aggressive. Karen Dietzler, the goalie for Sullivan, dove to block a big goal just seven minutes in. The Wildcats got a corner kick opportunity and Sullivan’s defense stopped them. Cambria Pohlman got away on fast break and Pohlman got her penalty kick blocked. Dietzler saved the ball a few times, but gave up the first goal with around seventeen minutes left. Dietzler saved the ball with around five minutes left and Union’s goalie Ali Thwing made a big save at the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Lady Wildcats secured the win with five more goals. Union’s Sophia Helling scored a goal on a corner kick with around 34 minutes left. Thwing made two more saves and Helling ran with a fast break and shot the ball over the goal. Alyssa Johnson made a big block on the defense with a little over twenty seven minutes left. Union had another corner kick opportunity that was stopped by Dietzler. Dietzler held strong on two more shots and Pohlman had her penalty kick blocked again. Union’s Mya Minor scored a goal on a fast rush and scored again three minutes later on another fast break in the open corner. With a little less than thirteen minutes left, Union’s Addison Williford secured another goal. The Lady Wildcats scored their last goal with a little over four and a half minutes left.

Pohlman led Sullivan in shooting with five and Emma Brune shot the ball three times. Molly Lohden, Emily Willman, and Addison Wagner each shot the ball once.

Dietzler played all 80 minutes and saved the ball eleven times.

Crocker

Sullivan bounced back the next day at Crocker. They scored two goals in the first half and added two more in the second half. Crocker had their only goal in the first half. The Lady Eagles defeated Crocker, 4-1.

Pohlman led the team in shots with seven and had one assist. Brune scored two goals and had four shots. Kara Schmidt shot the ball twice. Tessa Newman and Lohden each shot the ball once and each scored a goal. Anna Brooks got off one shot and an assist. Addison Wagner tallied an assist. Evvie Blankenship and Willman shot the once each.

Maria Schatzl was the goalkeeper all 80 minutes and saved the ball six times. She only gave up one goal.

Southern Boone

The Lady Eagles couldn’t grab another win to end the week. Sullivan fell to Southern Boone early when they scored five goals in the first half. The Lady Eagles tallied two goals in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to achieve the win. Southern Boone defeated the Lady Eagles, 5-2.

Pohlman shot the ball four times. Jada Adams also shot the ball four times, but got a goal. Brune shot the ball three times and picked up the other goal. Lohden shot the ball twice and Brooks did once.

Schatzl played all 80 minutes and gave up five goals. She saved the ball four times from seeing the back of the net.
