Lady Eagles Soar Past Owensville

The Lady Eagles shined on Tuesday against Owensville, capitalizing on scoring opportunities in the second half to defeat the Dutchgirls 5-1.

Owensville was the first to score as Landry Watson got her team on the board. A huge rush to the goal put the ball ust out of Maria Schatzl's reach.

The score came within the first eight minutes of the game.

Owensville tried to score on a fast break towards the net again, but the ball was stopped by a great defensive play by Dorie Richardson.

Molly Lohden bobbed her way through the crowd and ran towards the goal, only to get stopped by the Dutchgirls goalkeeper.

Richardson saved the ball again with 23 minutes left in the first half. She kept the Owensville offense in check the whole first half, which gave Emma Brune plenty of room to run the ball to the goal. Owensville’s keeper saved it again.

Emily Willman controlled the ball well late in the first half but was unable to connect at the back of the net.

"We weren't passing to our teammates," said head coach Bill Kackley about the first half. "No communication. Like I told my colleague, the better team on the field was wearing a white uniform. So we finally stepped up and played better the second half."

In the second half, the Lady Eagles were able to come together more as a team to connect with the nets.

Sullivan was also more aggressive.

Brune was the first Lady Eagle to send a ball into the back of the net, which tied the game. Jada Adams got the assist on the score.

It was Emma Adams who broke the tie for Sullivan giving them the edge.

Brune picked up the assist on the score just three minutes after the first Sullivan net.

Brune scored again, which helped Sullivan push ahead 3-1. Emma Adams assisted with the goal.

Sullivan began to run away and Owensville couldn’t keep up.

Jada Adams picked up her goal on a free kick with a little over 15 minutes left to play. Addison Wagner recorded the assist.

The scoring wasn’t done for Sullivan as Brune found the net another net again with a little under 10 minutes.

Lohden tallied another assist.

Schatzl played all 80 minutes to protect the net for Sullivan. She only allowed the one goal and saved the ball three times from being scored.
