Lady Eagles Complete Hat Trick In Union
Three Lady Eagles delivered a hat trick at the Wildcats’ den on Friday, Dec. 13. Dorie Richardson, Abigail Erfurth and Chloe Carson brought home medals, while Katie Summers and Autumn Hardesty racked up points. They led Sullivan to secure tenth place out of 23 other teams at the Union Tournament.
Richardson (140) finished at the top of her class, tallying a team-high 28 points. The senior kept her winning streak alive by improving to a 17-0 tournament record. She swiftly pinned Keanna George (Eureka) in 1:07, Alyvia Cusanelli (Festus) in 0:22 and Brianna James (Washington) in 0:49. Richardson won an 8-3 decision over the undefeated Dani Gullet (Festus) in the first-place match, crowning her the champion.
Erfurth (235) took bronze, finishing third and scoring 20. She first locked up Saquiyah Francois (Marshfield) at 3:23 and overcame Madison Clover (Seckman) in a 5-3 decision. Erfurth’s only loss came in a 1:42 fall to Addison Neumann (Eureka) during the third round. The sophomore then bounced back to win the consolation bracket. She took down Mackenzie Booth (Webb City) at 3:23 and Fallon Vaughn (Webster Groves) at 3:31.
Carson (155) was Sullivan’s third and final medalist. She ranked fourth, going 3-2 on Friday and racking up 17.5 points. The sophomore brought down Sydney Kiefer (Eureka) in 0:39, Alex Dierberg (Union) in a 4:25 technical fall and Marissa Johnson (Pacific) in 1:00. Carson only fell to Sarah Wilson (Marshfield) and Launa Cantrell (Potosi).
Summers (190) also pinned three victories in her five bouts, placing seventh and notching 11 points. Summers wrapped up Brailey Valadez (Webb City) in 5:40, Kiernan Gerling (North Point) in 0:39 and Faith Hilbus (Camdenton) in 1:15. Her two losses came against the undefeated Shyla Reid (Webster Groves) and Kaylee Mastroianni (Logan-Rogersville).
Hardesty (130) earned three points for the Lady Eagles. She delivered a swift takedown of Abri Fleischi (Pacific) in 1:32. The freshman fell in 0:32 to her two other challengers: Jossie Hopkins (St. Clair) and Haven Maddeaux (Marshfield).
