Junior Varsity Eagles Struggle In 58-27 Loss To Salem

Sullivan’s junior varsity boys basketball team was defeated 58-27 by Salem.

The Eagles began the first quarter with control of the lead over the Tigers. Guard Landen Doza led with 7 points from three layups and a free throw. Forward Mitchell Garner leaped over a pack of Tigers for two points and forward Raiden Redd delivered Sullivan’s final score into the basket.

But Sullivan’s offense stagnated in the second quarter, giving up 14 points and scoring none. Going into the locker room at halftime, down 22-11, the Eagles understood they needed to pull a miracle out of their sleeves to remain in the game.

The junior varsity team’s first game scheduled after Winter Break is against Northwest (Cedar Hill) at 5:30 p.m. They will then participate in a Borgia tournament the following week and face off against Southern Boone at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at home.
