Girls Soccer Kicks Off At Warrenton
The Lady Eagles got their season rolling at the Warrenton Classic, hosted from Mar. 16-17. Their first game ended in a 2-2 draw against St. Clair on Friday. Then, the following day, they shut out the St. Louis Patriots 2-0 and edged out Elsberry 3-2.
St. Clair
Sullivan got their first chance to prove their skills in their season opener, where they tied it 2-2 against their conference rivals, St. Clair.
Lady Eagle senior forward Cambria Pohlman clutched Sullivan’s first goal and led with four shots.
Junior midfielder Jada Adams evened out the scoreboard with Sullivan’s second goal. She had a team-high three points and an assist.
Senior defender Venable had a shot.
Senior Maria Schatzl played the full 80 minutes as Sullivan’s goalkeeper and had two saves.
St. Louis Patriots
The Lady Eagles picked up their first-season victory with a 2-0 shutout over the St. Louis Patriots.
Sophomore forward Newman was Sullivan’s only scorer and fired three shots.
Junior midfielder Molly Lohden tallied two shots and an assist.
Adams recorded a shot and an assist.
Venable and freshman midfielders Ava Hayes and Ella Kirk all made a shot.
Schatzl executed four saves.
Elsberry
Sullivan edged out Elsberry 3-2 in their final matchup at the Warrenton Classic.
Adams, Newman and junior midfielder Addison Wagner delivered a goal and a shot.
Lohden grabbed three shots and an assist.
Sophomore defender/midfielder Schmidt collected an assist.
Pohlman pulled off two shots.
Schatzl recorded 3 saves.
