Eldon Mustangs Gallop Past Sullivan In 6-1 Win
The Eagles (5-1) struggled to keep up with the Eldon Mustangs (4-4) in a 6-1 loss at the end of their three-game road trip on Thursday, Mar. 29.
Eldon drew first blood early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning and extending it with four more runs in the bottom of the third.
Drake Gawer was the only Eagle to reach home, accomplishing this during the top of the 2nd with an RBI by Seth Valley. Gawer also led Sullivan with three hits.
Gavin Schmidt, Chase Blue and Alex Toews each contributed a hit for the Eagles.
With 30 at-bats, the Eagles racked up six hits, a run and an RBI.
Sullivan’s pitching rotation struck out four batters and gave up five hits, three earned runs and three walks.
Schmidt was the first to take the mound, delivering two strikeouts and allowing two earned runs, two hits, and a walk.
Nate McReynolds came in for relief at the bottom of the third, surrendering three hits, two walks and an earned run.
Grant Halmick and Cambrian Koch served as Sullivan’s final pitchers, and both struck out a batter.
