Eagles Soar Over Shamrocks

Shamrocks Left In Shambles
The Sullivan Eagles ran over the New Haven Shamrocks 46-31 at home on Tuesday. This win was overdue from the previous two losses against Hillsboro and Hermann.
Sullivan drew the first blood of the game when Charlie Lohden netted a 3-pointer.
New Haven answered back from the free throw line and Logan Watters sailed another 3-pointer, establishing a 6-1 lead.
New Haven answered back with a layup and Watters made two free throws. Blaine Sappington made an inside shot off the glass and New Haven's Adam Homeyer tallied two more points as well. Kyle Lewis extended the lead with a beautiful 3-point shot.
The Eagles handled the ball well and New Haven tried their hardest to keep up and netted another layup.
Gavin Dace answered back with eight seconds left in the first. The Shamrocks finished the quarter out while before hitting two more free throws and the score was 15-10.
Gavin Dace opened the scoring back up with a layup and followed it with a free throw. New Haven decided to take a timeout and the clock was paused with 5:20 left on the clock.
Sullivan’s defense played exceptional in the second quarter, limiting the Shamrocks to a 3-pointer by Mitchell Meyer and one other basket. Luke Todd downed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, which sent the Eagles into halftime leading 25-15.
The Shamrocks only outscored Sullivan in the third quarter. Sam Summers sailed a shot from the inside with 6:36 left in the third. New Haven took a timeout and scored on a layup when the action continued.
The Shamrocks scored two from the free throw line and Watters cut the run off with a layup of his own.
New Haven scored four unanswered points and Head Coach Dino McKinney took a timeout for Sullivan with a little over two minutes left.
Sullivan finished the quarter with another layup and the score was 31-25.
The Eagles outscored New Haven 15-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for victory.
Sullivan scored seven points off free throws and a 3-pointer by Lohden.
New Haven had no choice but to take another timeout, stopping the clock at 2:42. Sullivan took a timeout not long after Summers made two more free throws.
The Eagles continually went to the free throw line in the game’s final minutes.
Todd converted two more free throws, only to have New Haven come back with a 3-pointer. Lewis made two more free thows after New Haven messed up but answered back with a three point shot. Gabe Dace finished the game out with two free throws.
Lewis and Watters led the team in points with nine. Todd tallied seven points. Lohden and Summers each made six points. Gavin Dace had five points. Gabe Dace and Sappington each secured with two points.
The Eagles had another great night on defense. Summers led in rebounds with seven. Gabe Dace secured five rebounds and one assist. Gavin Dace made four rebounds. Lewis recorded three rebounds and six assists. Aiden Kirk tallied two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Sappington snapped two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Todd registered two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Watters made two rebounds. Lohden finished with one rebound, one assist, and one steal.
