Eagles Look To Face Lift For Life At Sectionals

Sullivan defeated the St. James Tigers 41-25 to win the Class 4 District 3 tournament and will travel to Kirkwood on Tuesday to face the Lift For Life Hawks. The Hawks enter sectionals with an 18-9 record. 

They blew by Affton and Confluence in their district tournament at Cardinal Ritter. 

Senior Anthony Caldwell Jr. averages 13 points per game and has been deadly from beyond the arc, shooting 49%. 

Odis Grissom averages 10 points per game.

The Hawks began the season 15-5, but stumbled in games against John Burroughs, Whitfield, Charleston and St. Mary’s.

Sullivan has a balanced attack, led by Blaine Sappington, who averages eight points per game.

Kyle Lewis averages seven points per game and the trio of Luke Todd, Logan Watters and Charlie Lohden all average six points per game. 

Sullivan went into Tuesday’s game as the winners of four straight.

After entering February with a 5-13 record, the Eagles have won seven of nine. 

Their defense has been key, with the team holding opponents under the 40-point mark in all seven victories.
