Eagles Halted By Hillsboro

Sullivan’s boys basketball team fell to the Hillsboro Hawks on Tuesday, 68-46.

It was the third game in a row that the Eagles have been on the road and Sullivan’s first since their consolation win at the St. James Tournament. Sullivan's record stands at 5-12 so far on the year.

The Eagles struggled during the first quarter. Hillsboro outscored Sullivan and grabbed a 21-8 lead.

The Hawks snapped from there and added another 20 points on the board. Sullivan tallied another 14 and the score was 41-22 at the end of the first half.

Head Coach Dino McKinney made adjustments at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't keep up.

The Hawks outscored Sullivan 20-12 and took a 61-34 lead into the fourth quarter. Blaine Sappington led the team in points with 11. Logan Watters followed with nine. Charlie Lohden made eight. Luke Todd tallied six. Gabe and Gavin Dace each recorded three points. Aiden Kirk, Kyle Lewis, and Sam Summers each finished with two points.

Hillsboro's top players were Payton Brown and Kyle Phipps with each player scoring 18 points. Sullivan struggled on defense against the pair. Gavin Dace made two rebounds and an assist. Kirk recorded two rebounds and one steal. Lohden landed two rebounds and one steal as well. Sappington secured two rebounds and two steals. Gabe Dace made one rebound. Lewis scored one rebound, two assists, and two steals. Summers made one rebound. Todd had one rebound and four steals. Watters finished with an assist and a steal.
