Eagles Fall Short In District Championship Rematch Over Salem
The varsity boys basketball team (1-8) lost 50-33 to Salem (4-4) at home on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Sullivan carried the lead at halftime, but the Tigers clawed it back to emerge victorious.
Salem aimed to break their four-game losing streak against Sullivan and sought redemption after the Eagles had defeated them in the District Championship the previous season. At the same time, Sullivan hoped to enter Winter Break on a high note and turn their season around.
The Tigers struck first with a layup, then tallied 10 points before the first quarter ended. In his third game of the season, guard Chris Glaser was the only Eagle able to score in the first 8 minutes, swooshing in two free throws to make it 10-2 before the buzzer sounded.
Varsity will enter Winter Break knowing what to improve before their next game, which will be at home against Northwest (Cedar Hill) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5. They will then face Southern Boone in another home matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
