Buzzer-Beaters & Overtime Shootouts: Holiday Classic Recap

The 12th Annual Peoples Bank Holiday Classic was hosted at Sullivan High School from Monday, Dec. 11 to Dec. 15.

They are proud to have had Peoples Bank, Missouri Baptist Hospital-Sullivan and Wallis Oil Companies as its sponsors for the tournament.

The Bill Wallis Tournament MVP, named in honor of the founder of Wallis  Oil Companies, was awarded to Emily Recker of St. James, who played a crucial role in securing the tournament trophy for the Lady Tigers.

The 2023 All-Tournament Team consisted of Nazya Fields (Miller Career), Abby Kreitzer (Steelville), Hayli Venable (Sullivan), Brooke Blankenship (St. Pius X), Sydney Kessler (Borgia), Taylor Scheer (Borgia), Lydia Kemnitzer (St. James), Alison Daniels (Owensville), Kendall Costoplos (St. James) and Emma Daniels (Owensville).

St. James clinched first place after winning a triple-overtime thriller. Owensville followed in 2nd place, St. Francis Borgia landed 3rd, St. Pius X finished 4th, Steelville placed 5th, Sullivan made 6th, Miller Career got 7th and Salem finished last.
