Brendel And Peregoy Medal At State

The Eagles wrestling team rounded out their season at the State’s wrestling level. Sullivan traveled to Columbia for the Class 2 State Championships. Eli Peregoy and Colton Brendel were victorious and took home medals. The Eagles sent 11 boys to State and won the district championship. This was the most boys have sent to State in school history.

Camden Henderson's season came to an end for the 106 weight class. He was pinned by Clinton’s Lucas McMenemy at 5:10 in the first round. In round two, Henderson was pinned by Kaid Shaw of Southern Boone at fifty-nine seconds.

Carter Blankenship fell in two rounds for the 113 class. He was pinned by Liam Borgsmiller of Orchard Farm at 5:02 in round one. In round two, Blankenship fell to Center’s Davion Wilson by an 8-2 decision.

Eli Peregoy brought home a sixth place medal for the 132 class. In round one, he fell to Kirksville's Ben Amerman by a 6-3 decision. In the first round of the consolation, Peregoy defeated Bradyn Huhn of Blair Oaks by a 13-5 major decision. He pinned Dexter's Eric Harmon at 4:55 in the second round of the consolation. In the third round of the consolation, Peregoy defeated Hollister's Bryson Whitman by a 14-5 major decision. He was defeated by Ryder Coons of Mid Buchanan by a 4-2 decision in the consolation semifinals. Peregoy finished in sixth place when he was pinned by Lucas Berry of St. Michael Catholic at fifty-six seconds.

Dominic Ransom's season came to an end in two rounds for the 138 class. He was pinned by Odessa’s Gable Gross in the first round at 1:13. In the second round, Ransom was pinned by Wright City's David Riggs at 2:05.

Draysen Nolie had a great season that was over after two rounds for the 144 class. In the first round, he was pinned in fifty-four seconds by Cassville's Colton Roark. Dominic Dowdy of Lutheran St. Charles pinned Nolie at forty-five seconds in round two.

Adam Peregoy’s great season came to an end in the 150 class. He was pinned in round one by Cameron’s Gage Jones at 3:26. In the first round of the consolation, Peregoy defeated Stephone Cody of Normandy Collective by a 11-6 decision. He fell in the second round of the consolation round to Grant Rodriguez of St. James by a 3-2 decision.

Colton Brendel was Sullivan's best finisher and he brought home a fourth place medal for the 157 weight class. He fell to Kirksville’s Dominic Cahalan by a 12-9. Brendel pinned Seneca's Landon Commons at 1:27 in the first round of consolation. In the second round of consolation, he pinned Hunter Scoma of Excelsior Springs at 4:04. Brendel defeated Beau Thomas of Logan Rogersville in the third round of the consolation by a 9-2 decision. He faced Cahalan again in the consolation semifinals and this time Brendel defeated him with a 8-2 decision. Brendel fell to Mason Langeneckert of Ste. Genevieve by a 12-4 major decision in the third place match.

Wieland Schmuke had his great season come to an end for the 165 class. He fell to Buffalo’s Hunter Jenkins by an 8-1 decision in round one. In round two, Schmuke was pinned by Moberly’s Gage St. Clair at 1:56.

Jordan Rice competed in three rounds for the 190 class. In round one, Rice pinned Southern Boone’s Aiden McDaniel at 3:11. He was pinned in the quarterfinals by Savannah’s Cooper Burnsides at 2:49. Rice was pinned by Dalton McBride of Ste. Genevieve at 4:18 in the first round of the consolation.

Jeremiah Rodriguez had his season come to an end for the 215 class. In the first round, he fell to Owen Stockbauer of Mid Buchanan by a 10-3 decision. Rodriguez was pinned by Nevada’s Kenneth Johnson at 4:54 in the second round.
