Boys Wrestling Dominates First Month Of The Season

Sullivan heads into the new year with no plans of stopping its momentum. The Eagles enter January with a 7-3 dual record, ready to soar past more competition. They look to win another conference title in St. Clair on Jan. 14 and will host a five-team scramble the following Friday. 

The varsity Eagles kicked off their season at the Marshfield Duals. They beat the brakes off Owensville 57-18, Buffalo 61-12, St. James 47-31 and El Dorado Springs 72-5. Sullivan came up short 43-34 in the last clash with the host. 

The following week, the Eagles battled Washington in their home opener. They kept the Blue Jays on their toes in the 33-30 loss. 

Sullivan continued its momentum at a tri-meet, trouncing Moberly 36-24 and the host St. Charles West 45-18.

The Eagles would then clinch the podium at the Wentzville-Liberty Invitational, tying for third place out of thirty squads. 

Sullivan started week three at home, slaying Dragons on the mat. They put up a tough fight against Ste. Genevieve, despite falling 49-25.

The Eagles squared off against two more teams in a Potosi tri-meet. They first came up short 34-30 to Owensville but bounced back with a 38-29 rout over the host.

Before entering Winter Break, the Eagles landed second at the Steve Johnson Invitational. They fought strongly against twelve other squads and wrapped up December on a high note. 

Ian Henderson (17-0) kicked off his high school career on top. He took first at the Wentzville-Liberty and Steve Johnson Invitationals while remaining undefeated.

Senior Eli Peregoy (15-0) clinched the top of the podium at the Steve Johnson Invitational and has kept his winning streak alive.

Conner Roach (10-0) started his senior year with a first-place finish at Wentzville-Liberty and has not surrendered a match yet.

Senior Carter Blankenship (15-4) ran the table in Jefferson City and landed second at Wentzville-Liberty.  

Junior Austin Ray (13-7) took fourth at Wentzville-Liberty and Jefferson City. 

Junior Ethan Turner (11-7) was the runner-up at Jefferson City and took the mat at Wentzville-Liberty.

Sophomore Brennan Birrer (10-7) landed fourth at Jefferson City and battled at Wentzville-Liberty. 

Junior Camden Henderson (9-3) finished fourth at the Wentzville-Liberty Invitational. 

Jaxson Blankenship (8-2) has dominated his first duals on the mat. The freshman also made rookie strides at Wentzville-Liberty. 

Junior Ollie Borton (8-8) finished third in Jefferson City and wrestled at Wentzville-Liberty. 

Freshman Nathan Garcia (6-13) took sixth at Jefferson City and squared off at Wentzville-Liberty. 

Brodyn Huebner (2-6) began his sophomore year with a fourth-place finish in Jefferson City. 

Sophomore Lucas Hunter (1-9) placed fifth at the Steve Johnson Invitational. 

Tucker Fruewirth started his senior year with a 2-2 dual record.

Junior Varsity

The junior varsity Eagles have battled in two invitationals: Wentzville-Liberty and Brentwood. They have also faced Marshfield, Steelville, St. James and the host Rolla at a quad.

Sullivan rolled out 2025 at the Eureka Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 4. Stats were unavailable at press time.

Carsen Dudley (16-1) kicked off his junior season on a high note with a first-place finish at Wentzville-Liberty. He later took fifth for consolation at the Brentwood Invitational.  

Blake Watson (10-1) was the runner-up at Wentzville-Liberty and Brentwood for his first high school tournaments. 

Junior Brayden Kisner (11-4) was awarded silver at Wentzville-Liberty and Brentwood.

Benjamin Cornejo (9-4) took fifth at Wentzville-Liberty and sixth at Brentwood to begin his senior year.

Sophomore Xander Loyd (8-3) clinched the second spot on the podium at Brentwood. 

William Turner (7-3) began his high school career with silver at Wentzville-Liberty and a seventh-place finish at Brentwood. 

Senior Parker Montee (6-3) landed a second-place finish at Wentzville-Liberty.

Sophomore Cole Reed (3-11) placed tenth at Brentwood and went unranked at Wentzville-Liberty.  

Freshman Chris Aberle (2-7) started his high school career with a sixth-place finish at Wentzville-Liberty. 

Jett Thomas (1-8) started his junior season with a tenth-place finish at Brentwood.

Ivan Stockmeyer (1-8) kicked off his rookie year with a sixth-place finish at Wentzville-Liberty.

Kasey Stout holds a 1-2 dual record to start his freshman year. 

Sullivan had four wrestlers who went unranked at Wentzville-Liberty: freshmen Morgan Studdard (2-6) and Clifton Vaughn (0-4), then juniors Nolan Studdard (1-4) and Gavyne Schroeder (1-3).
