Boys Wrestling Claw Through Cameron Crossroads Duals
Boys’ wrestling went 1-3 at the Cameron Crossroads Duals on Saturday, Jan. 6. Sullivan fell 42-36 to Marceline and Cameron in their opening duels but bounced back to beat Chillicothe 42-39. In their final round, they lost 60-21 to Odessa.
Colton Brendel (165) had 18 points for his team and three wins. He pinned Jagger Sportsman (Marceline) in 1:31, Brody Hollifield (Chillicothe) in 1:20 and Ethan Kimmel (Odessa) in 0:48. His only loss came in a 7-2 decision to Kenton Gates (Cameron).
Kane Strehl (175) struggled in his first three rounds but rebounded with a 1:25 takedown over Carson Hager (Odessa) in his final match for 6 points.
Parker Montee (190) fell in both of his matches to Marc Garcia (Marceline) at 1:12 and Brody Carins (Chillicothe) at 0:23.
Jacob Patton (215) was pinned by Scout Gooch (Marceline) in 0:50 and defeated by Martin Moore (Chillicothe) in a 9-3 decision.
Nolan Center (285) grabbed 15 points for his team. He came in clutch with a sudden victory against Broc Cordray (Marceline) in his first match. Then, he shut down Marcas Eaton (Cameron) at 4:30 and won his final round due to a forfeit. His only loss came against Bo Smith (Chillicothe) in a 3:36 fall.
Camden Henderson (113) tallied up 12 points for the Eagles. His two pins came against George Coe (Marceline) in 1:20 and James Hail (Chillicothe) in 1:06. Henderson’s losses were to Will Erickson (Cameron) and Landon Scarborough (Odessa).
