Boys Soccer Falls In Two Games This Week

The Eagles soccer team fell in two games on Monday and Tuesday. Sullivan played the Fox Warriors at home before traveling to Union to play the Wildcats on Tuesday. The Eagles were shut out by Fox, 5-0. Union was victorious on Tuesday, 2-0.

Fox

Head Coach Brian Immekus changed his strategy to start the game. He decided to start Cambrian Kock as his goalkeeper on Monday. The Fox Warriors were coming off another shutout against Parkway North the game before. Sullivan was shut out by Windsor at home last week. The Eagles fell to Fox, 5-0.

In the first half, the Warriors took control of the game quickly. Fox scored their first goal within the first two minutes of the game. Koch dove for the ball but it was just out of this reach. He saved a ball from the net before Sullivan missed on a free kick opportunity. They missed a corner kick, but Trevor Alexander had good control towards the goal. Fox shot a ball right of the goal and Eli Peregoy made a fast break towards the goal with a little over thirty and half minutes left. Jonathan Schneider of Fox drove the ball towards ball and kept the pressure after a missed Fox corner kick. Sullivan freshman Aiden Lawrence performed good defense to keep the ball out of the net. The Warriors landed another goal with a little over nineteen minutes left. Koch saved the ball a couple more times, because Fox shot the ball a lot. Wyatt Kraus has shown great defensive power all season and did it again on Monday. Dock Thomure had a fast break towards the foal, but couldn’t connect before Fox made another goal. Koch moved out of the goal and the Warriors capitalized on the open net. He saved the ball twice more a minute later. Thomure and Alexander had a fast break and good control to the net, before Fox’s goalkeeper, Drew Harris, made a save.

In the second half, Coach Immekus moved Kaden Smith back in as goalkeeper. Smith was playing in the middle position and he and Koch traded spots in the final half. Fox missed a corner kick and Peregoy was all over the field, this time showing his defense ability, Fox missed another corner kick and Lawrence stopped the ball on defense. Kraus and Smith saved the ball from the back of the net, but Carter Jackson of Fox scored a goal when he headbutted the ball in the net after a corner kick. Smith saved the ball two more times and Fox missed on five more corner kicks, before Giovanni Napoli of Fox launched another ball in the net with less than two minutes of play left. The Warriors surged past Sullivan, 5-0.

Koch was the only Eagle to shoot the ball. He also was the goalkeeper in the first half of the game. He gave up three goals and saved the ball nine times. Smith finished out the game as the goalie and gave up two goals. He saved the ball three times.

Union

Union came out strong on Tuesday. They scored their first goal in the first half and scored their second goal in the final half. Their lead shooters were Will Herbst and Ethan Sulschi. The Wildcats goalie, Cooper Bailey, had to work for the victory. He didn’t give up any goals, but saved the ball ten times. Sullivan fell, 2-0.

Koch was the goalkeeper for Sullivan and he played all eighty minutes. He saved the ball five times and gave up two goals. The scoring stats for Sullivan were unavailable at press time.
