Boys Soccer Blanks Crocker For Fourth Consecutive Win
Sullivan (6-6) won its fourth consecutive game in a 4-0 shutout over Crocker (11-5) on Monday, Sept. 30. The last time the Eagles achieved this milestone was the start of the 2017 season.
Head coach Brian Immekus was proud of his team for maintaining the winning streak. He stated, “We were able to get a lot of things going in our attack. You could really see our chemistry-building game to game, which led to a great increase in scoring chances and shots on goal. Hopefully, those positive steps will keep growing as the competition gets tougher. We know what we want to do as a soccer team and were able to do that [during our streak]. Now we have to see if we can build on that going forward.”
Josiah Tanner was named the Man of the Match for the home slashing. He brought the final boom into the net and assisted a score against the Lions. The junior also led the Eagles with six shots.
Sullivan started the game hot and put their first points on the board twenty minutes in. Luke Herron bolted down the field for a goal. He also logged four other shots.
The Eagles continued firing on all cylinders. After their first strike, Kaden Smith blasted in the second score, and Ben Tanner snagged the third just before halftime.
Senior captain Smith said the Eagles found their spark in their streak by “just playing soccer.” He explained it as “playing hard, [being] energetic, and trusting our teammates are gonna be in the right places at the right time; that’s how we’ve had success. And that’s how we’re gonna continue to have success. We stay locked in because we are doubted a lot, and we like proving people wrong.”
Carsen Dudley made five on-goal attempts, and Zaiden Marler had two.
Russell Politte assisted a score. He and Logan Schlueter both fired a shot.
Eagles goalie Alex Toews completed a shutout at the net. He recorded three saves.
