Zechariah Beagle will cap off his high school cross country career on the biggest stage. The senior clinched his first-ever state berth for Jefferson City.

Beagle claimed his spot after finishing 20th at the Class 4 District 2 Tournament. He clocked in a personal record-setting 17:15.52 at the Bolivar meet held on Saturday, Nov. 2. “I knew I had a chance to go to state and that if I didn’t qualify, it was my last race ever,” Beagle said. “So, I gave it everything I could to try and reach that time I needed.”

The senior will next run alongside the best at the Gans Creek Course in Columbia. He will start his final high school race at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
