William Paul Bockewitz, 78, of Forest, Virginia, formerly of Quincy, Illinois, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.  Paul was born in St. Louis, Missouri to William Calvin and Matilda Rosetta on February 13th, 1943. His father was killed in France serving in WWII when Paul was just over a year old. Later, Rosetta raised Paul and his brother Carl in Bourbon, Missouri.

Paul enrolled in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy to pursue a career as a Pharmacist. After graduating, he moved to Quincy, Illinois and served in the National Guard. His brother, Marine Captain Carl Bockewitz was killed in action while serving during the Vietnam War. In Quincy, Paul married Karen Kay Fish, who survives. The couple recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. Paul was a pharmacist in Quincy, Illinois and was the owner of The Medicine Shoppe for over 20 years.

Mr. Bockewitz was a member of several organizations throughout his life, serving as an original board member of WGCA radio, officer of the Adams County Pharmacist Association, and a long time member of the Quincy Breakfast Optimist Club. He was a passionate St. Louis Cardinal and Mizzou sports fan and experienced the many highs and lows as a long time St. Louis Rams football season ticket holder. Some of his most cherished times were shared with his son Paul and son-in-law Chris at the Rams games.

In addition to his wife Karen, Paul is survived by his son Paul Bockewitz (Mindy) of St. Augustine, Florida and his daughter Julie Huseman (Chris) of Forest, Virginia; beloved grandchildren Emily, Elise, Elliott, Elijah, Eleanor and Evan Huseman who will all miss their Bopa dearly; his sister Peggy (Don Bell) his brother Bill Bohnenkamp (Denise) and their children.

Paul preferred a simple gathering of close family rather than a public service. To celebrate his life, memorials can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
