Walter “Waldo” August Boehm, 97, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Walter was born February 10, 1924 in Sullivan, MO, to the late Fredrick Peter and Anna Wilemina (Mester) Boehm. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan. Waldo was united in marriage to Betty “Bobbie” Jean Grimes on June 17, 1961 in St. Louis, MO, and they were blessed with one daughter, Cathy. As a young man, Waldo became employed by the Teamsters Union as an over the road truck driver. He worked in this profession for 40 years. After retiring from trucking, Waldo went to work for Eaton Funeral Home as a grounds keeper, where he remained from 1982 to 2016. He also did yard work for several other families in the community. His work ethic was well known and the yards he cared for were meticulous.

Waldo also honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was very patriotic and was a long-time member of the Sullivan VFW post #3987. In his free time, Waldo enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes. He was known as the man who could fix anything and was a professional tinkerer. Waldo was a good friend to many and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Waldo is survived by his daughter, Cathy Boehm, of Sullivan, MO; two grandchildren, Brennan Boehm of Sullivan, MO and Michelle Hearn and husband Travis of Bowling Green, MO; three great-grandchildren: Celina Boehm of Sullivan, MO and Colton and Allie Hearn of Bowling Green, MO; one brother, John Boehm of Klamath Falls, OR; as well as nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; his parents, Fredrick and Anna; two brothers, Fred and Abe Boehm; and four sisters: Amelia Kirkland, Marie Roode, Elsie Laws and Virginia Anderson.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home, with Mr. James Eaton officiating. Interment and full military honors followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation were held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
