Steven R. Gierer

Steven R. Gierer, 62, of Leasburg, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Fenton.

Steven Roger Gierer was born on February 6, 1959 in St. Louis, MO, to Melvin and Emma (Faddis) Gierer. He grew up and attended school in the Saint Louis area, graduating from Fox High School, class of 1977. After graduation, he remained in Saint Louis and worked various jobs before going to work for Hustler, where he remained for the next 28 + years until his passing.

Steve met Sandy Ransom in February of 2013. Together they shared many adventurous memories of going camping, fishing and floating on the Meramec River.

Steve was so very hardworking and you could often find him tinkering with his homemade canon, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving companion, Sandy Ransom, of Leasburg, MO; a daughter, Shanena Brooks and husband Tyler of Bunker Hill, IL; a step-son, Greg Wisely and wife Shannon of Bourbon, MO; a step-daughter, Tracy Wisely of Saint Louis, MO; five grandchildren: Kristopher & Evangeline Brooks, James, Cameron & Krystle Taggert; many great-grandchildren; three brothers: Mark Gierer and wife Michelle of Arnold, MO, Danny Gierer and wife Gloria of Festus, MO & Melvin Lawrence Jr. of Barnhart, MO; a sister, Janet Leavitt of Sikeston, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie Gierer; his parents, Melvin and Emma; a brother, Raymond Gierer; a sister, Kathy Buehler; and a brother-in-law, Richard Leavitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., at the New Life of Hope Church in Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
