Scott Waller, 64, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Thomas Scott Waller was born July 10, 1957 in Washington, MO joining his parents John and Esther (Matthews) Waller. Scott was a lifelong resident of Sullivan, graduating from Sullivan High School, class of 1975. He briefly attended SEMO in Cape Girardeau, MO before attending and completing National Banking School. Scott then worked at the Bank of Sullivan and later Farmers & Merchants Bank of St. Clair. Over the years, he had many roles during his tenure with the bank and was known early on in his career for his savvy abilities with technology. He served on the board of directors at Bank of Sullivan, Farmers & Merchants Bank, and the Missouri Independent Bankers Association (MIBA), where he taught many seminars on cyber security.

Those who knew Scott knew of his extreme passion for the Boy Scouts of America. Scott was a larger-than-life scouter and was active on the Unit, District, and Council levels in his 55+ years in Scouting. He became a member of Troop 444 in Sullivan in 1968, where he became a member of the Shawnee Lodge, Order of the Arrow, and then received his Eagle Scout Award in 1973. Scott went on to become a Camp Staff Member at the Swift Explorer Base from 1975-1981. He received the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow in 1979, served as Vice-Chief of the local Order of the Arrow Chapter in 1974-1975, and attending the national camping school in 1979. Scott served in many positions in the Osage District and was the Osage District Commissioner from 2005 to 2008. As an adult, he served on the Greater St. Louis Area Council’s Wood Badge Training Staff, a proud member of the Bobwhite Patrol, staff for the National Youth Leadership Training Camps until health issues sidelined him, but he remained an active Scouter. Scott was recognized for his Service to the Osage District with his receiving of the District Award of Merit and also recognized on the Council level with the Silver Beaver recognition in 2005 for his service to Scouting. Scott was dutiful through and through and received many awards and recognitions, but his great source of pride and accomplishment was the training and service he was able to offer to generations of Scouts and Leaders. Despite all of these accomplishments, he was proudest to be the father of his three boys.

Scott married Patricia Biggins on September 28, 1991 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Sullivan. To this union, three boys were born: John “J.T.”, Matthew, & Timothy. Scott loved his boys tremendously. He relished his time spent following them in sports activities, scouting adventures, and attending Cardinals games and concerts. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends on the Meramec River. Scott loved all types of music and was a proclaimed trivia and movie “buff”. Over the years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. An avid Cardinals fan, he also greatly enjoyed watching European soccer, specifically Liverpool FC.

Scott will be remembered for his ability to make others laugh. He had a quick wit, along with his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Patty; his sons:  J.T., Matt, & Tim of the family home of Sullivan; a special nephew, Cody Waller, of Bourbon, MO; a brother-in-law, Mike Biggins and his wife, Anna, of Sullivan; and numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
